I was up at the allotment early this morning and did a bit of digging, watered my plants and cut the edges of the grass path. I have learned so much from L especially about digging. When I first started I thought I was digging quite well, but nowadays I am doing it completely differently. L has taught me to mark out my patch and only dig little bits at a time, using the fork to sieve weeds and stones. When I started I wore gloves, but I am tending not to now.
I also make sure I can see the edge of where I am digging...
I also make sure I can see the edge of where I am digging...
As you can see I am a lot tidier now than when I started...
So... this is what my beds look like now...
onions and garlic
potatoes somewhere in there
green manure
lettuce and carrots at the front...honestly.
This is what I dug this morning and out of this little patch I got 2 buckets of stones and roots like this...
The good news is that today we took the mammoth step of ordering and taking delivery of m'wood for m'raised beds. How exciting is that?? I have to admit that I am suffering huge amounts of mickey taking from friends and family about this whole allotment thing. Allotments are seen as a rather aged thing to be involved in, but I am forging the way ahead.... in the future allotments will be seen as young and glamorous!!

Hi Gail! You are quite right! It is extremely satisfying! xx
Great blog post, BUT, judging by the pictures, I am convinced you have buried a dead body there.
