A Non-Newtonian liquid.... or runny dough to you and me!!!

There are not many things, at the age of 46, that a girl has not touched, tried or experienced. I am not talking about anything lurid here - I am, as they say, pure as the driven snow.... well maybe a little grey around the edges. Today however, I tried something for the first time, and I can highly recommend it...... runny dough.

Don't worry - its nothing sinister. I suppose really its for children to play with, but I can tell you this much - if you don't have kids and have 5 minutes its worth a go! All you need is:

2 parts cornflour to 1 part water... plus a little food colouring if you are feeling especially excitable.

Put the cornflour in a mixing bowl and slowly add the water. The result is the most bizarre concoction. Its sort of a liquid, but when you tap it its solid. You can slowly push your finger through it, but its nearly impossible to spoon up.

To see how it works just click here. You and your children will love it!!! Let me know how you get on!!

We LOVE this. My 6th grade science teacher taught us how to make it. I call it Ooobleck....as in EWWWWW...bleck! :) BabyGirl played with it when we were doing her occupational therapy.

Sounds interesting - I will have to try and remember to get cornflour.

ooooh sounds exciting - I have the water but not either of the other 2 essential ingredients.

I bet it's not as good as using a chocolate finger as a straw in your tea though - now that really is ingenious...
