Anniversary at Danesfield House. Bliss...

I am, as I type, floating on a blissful cloud of happiness, created by my lovely husband's Anniversary treat. He took me for the night to Danesfield House in Buckinghamshire. Oh, my Goodness me... the best Anniversary yet, in the most gorgeous place. As we walked up to the hotel a man appeared from nowhere to carry our bags, enquiring after our journey. The lobby was sweet with the scent of fresh lilies and I felt like a guest at someone's country house.

Our room was beautiful, looking out onto fabulous gardens that led down to the Thames. All I could hear was the sound of birdsong and waterfalls. We walked, we swam in the ozone pool, we steamed, we drank champagne. As we arrived at the restaurant for dinner the maitre d' ushered us onto the terrace for drinks. We sat, in the early evening nibbling on salted almonds and olives, as we ordered our meal. The food was to die for. I had a salad of endives with avocado and Roquefort whilst my Man had bouillabaise. Next I had smoked haddock, topped with a lightly poached egg on a bed of wilted spinach. I could not possibly have eaten pudding, but my Man had chocolate tart with a raspberry sorbet. We took coffee in the Grand Lounge from silver pots and bone china and I tried not to sprawl too indelicately on the pluffy sofas.

I felt like an absolute princess and really could happily live there forever. One of my 3 wishes would be for their Eggs Benedict for breakfast every day - to hell with world peace and all that palaver. Yes, I am a very happy bunny. I think I will stay with my gorgeous boy !!!!

sounds fairytaleish! This place is a castle?!? I wish my husband took me to places like that on our anniversary. This January will be our 20th!!!Woooohooooo I'll be lucky to get flowers. You must be doing something right. Your description sounded like something out of romance novel. Love reading your space.....
