Russell Brands eats babies.... doesn't he ??

Oh, for Goodness sake! You would think, looking at the palaver ensuing from Sachsgate that Russell Brand did in fact eat babies, or murder old ladies, or torture kittens. What he did, along with fellow comedian/entertainer Jonathon Ross, was make a puerile and inappropriate phone call to Fawlty Towers star Andrew Sachs.

The radio programme in which this featured, went out over a week ago and 2 listeners complained. The Mail picked up the story and the witch hunt began. I believe there are 27,000 complaints on file now. Exactly how many of those people have actually listened to the show would be interesting to discover.

The programme was recorded so the BBC had the choice of whether to air the offensive segment. They went ahead. Having listened to the podcast this afternoon I didn't find it particularly funny, but it didn't send me howling to my telephone to add my complaint to the 27,000. To be honest, I thought that Jonathon Ross sounded out of his depth and if you are going to bandy blame about then I would place it firmly at his door. I really don't think, though, that this piece of radio merits all the fuss.

Perhaps people are glad to have someone wealthy to demonise, following the credit crunch. Perhaps people's pent up rage at the financial disasters has been vented on something quite trivial. Russell Brand and Jonathon Ross are easy targets. Let's all hate the quirky, rich blokes. Let's burn them at the stake...

Oh, dear me. Get a life. They made a mistake. They were a couple of sixth form wallies whose editor should have told to put a lid on it. They are not evil men, out to destroy Western civilisation as we know it. I am sick of hearing about the whole fandango. I enjoy both men's shows... sometimes they're really funny... sometimes they're rubbish. They are not Hitler, or Pol Pot. They do not eat babies or torture those fluffy kittens. When you see the country's politicians and pundits clambering over each other to have their say on something quite as silly as this it makes me wonder ... what other news has been snuck out over the last few days ? Did we invade someone ?

He might not eat babies, but his hair does scare the bejeebies out of me.

I'm with you Farmie...he's a bit frightening to look at...

I'm with you though Sarah, who cares if he called someone and made a stupid phone call? Good grief...I'd be digging deep into news sources to insure that some terribly important person isn't missing, or dead, or worse, eloped with Lindsey Lohan...after all, aren't both of the young Princes single again?
