It seemed like a good idea at the time.......

Today has been the first hot day of the Summer. I took my boys to play cricket this morning and then went for a run. It was just lovely, running over the fields. I managed to run for just over 10 minutes without stopping. Yippeeee!!! And the reason for this activity ? Well, the Flora London Marathon application magazine dropped on my doormat the other day. I have applied to run this marathon over the last 5 years. I have been fit, unfit and mediocrely fit as the years have passed by, but have never won a place. Only 1 in 4 people get through in the ballot and I can't afford to enter any other way. Charities have places on offer, but only if you can guarantee to raise lots of money. I am afraid that I just can't guarantee that so the ballot is the place for me.

After 5 years of fruitless application I believe you are guaranteed a place. So, this year is the year. This is a huge thing for me. I am not fit at the moment. But I have to do this. It is one thing in life that I need to do. I have started a training plan. It has to be done.

I have decided to keep a diary in the form of another blog. It is called " Secret Housewife does the Marathon ( hopefully) " so, if you are interested in my progress then this is where it will be. I am going to run for Breakthrough Breast Cancer, in memory of my friends Sally and Jonnie. I hope they will watch over me when the going gets tough and I get weak.

I have faith in you! Anyone who can even think about running a marathon amazes me. I get winded just saying "Marathon!" Maybe I'll take up pilates again...or I'll take a nap.

Besides, I don't want to ruin all my Olympic training...I'm off to watch TV & eat bonbons.
