A warm feeling in my heart... and its not hot chocolate...

I have a warm feeling in my heart tonight. And do you know why that is ? I can tell you that the main cause of the lovely marshmallowy sensation is the fact that I've been to Parent/Teacher consultations tonight and the news is good !

Son #1 tends to breeze through school - he's bright and nothing phases him. His grades are always good, his behaviour excellent. Son #2 is a bright cookie too, but school has not always been the easy ride we would hope for. The little chap I sent off to Reception class 5 years ago was confident and brimming with enthusiasm for learning. Within the year the 2 teachers that he had managed to knock all of that out of him with their negative attitudes and lack of understanding. I hated to watch him shrink into himself and loathed those 2 women for what they did.

I must add, at this point, that they are long gone and the school knew that they needed to go. It has taken a long time to get my little happy fella back, but I think that this year especially, he is going to do well, with wonderful teachers who understand and care for him. As we talked I could see that they had his personality to a tee and I have seen this term that he is enjoying school. Their caring, enthusiastic approach is just marvelous.

I left the classroom with a spring in my step and real happiness in my belly... and that, my friends, is the warm feeling that is spreading through me right now.

Just popped over to say hello and to thank you for the comment you left on my blog. I am so pleased your son seems happier at school, and I hope this takes a little bit of worry away from you now, and that he starts to really enjoy these first years of his education, they are the best. I like the photo you have used on this post, it would have looked good on my blog! x
