Today I have been a marvellous mother. I do not say this lightly.Having spent most of the week being generally hated and reviled by my children because of my cruelty ( this with particular regard to bed time ) I still managed to be wonderful today.
I happened to check my phone at work and found 2 missed calls, a voice mail and a text. All were from my son, needing me to bring his school bag from my car.I cried off work for 20 minutes, drove like a madwoman to his school and discovered... that his bag was not actually in my boot.
Panicking, my first thought was that someone had stolen it from my car. Strange... a bag full of dog eared books and old Twix wrappers... Then I decided to rush home where I ransacked the house and eventually woke my husband to ask if he knew where the silly bag was. He had been in bed for 3 hours...
It turns out that my son, having phoned me, woke up my Man who drove to where I work, got the bag from the boot of my car and took it to my son's school. He then went back to bed. Nobody thought to contact me to tell me the crisis was over...
Its funny isn't it? Children consider it utterly acceptable to treat you like a complete idiot all week and then, in their hour of need, expect you to still drop everything and come to their aid with a cheery grin and a doffing of your virtual cap...
On a further note, I would like to thank Louba over at her blog for nominating me for a Stylish Blogger Award. I have obviously slipped into a little black dress, draped a cluster of diamonds around my decolletage and will continue to blog in this stylish way!

Brilliant. Of course no one would tell you! That would make life too easy :)
Trés chic, madame!
You just lost your chance - you WERE informed first place that there IS a problem.Who informs mothers about fixed problems??? Then, they are not needed, right? Especially, the cruel ones :)))
Came over from your other blog. When would you pick up your brushes again? Lovely paintings and sketches.
Thank you Anonymous! I just don't seem to be able to fit painting into my life at the moment! What with work, family, study, allotment and the need to sleep... One day... one day...
Treating you like an idiot until they want something continues right into their teens too! Oh the joys of motherhood. Congrats on your "Stylish" award!!
